Bullhead City Police Chief Robert Trebes to Retire September 17

Bullhead City Police Chief Robert Trebes announced today that he will retire on Sept. 17, 2025, concluding nearly 21 years of service with the department. Trebes will continue to serve as Chief of Police until his retirement takes effect on Constitution Day, a date he described as “very meaningful” to him.

 

In his resignation letter, Trebes expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to lead the department.

“It has been such an honor to lead the men and women of this organization and to help guide our personnel to providing the best service possible to the amazing citizens of Bullhead City,” Trebes wrote. “…thank you so much for believing in me and blessing me with this great honor!”

 

Trebes joined the Bullhead City Police Department in October 2004. He was promoted to sergeant in January 2016, lieutenant in May 2017, and chief of police in February 2021. Under his leadership, the department added 10 officer positions, implemented a new records management system, trained every sworn officer in constitutional law, and expanded community engagement efforts.

 

“Chief Trebes has served our community with dedication, professionalism, and integrity throughout his distinguished career,” said City Manager Toby Cotter. “Under his leadership, the Bullhead City Police Department has strengthened its commitment to public safety and embraced innovative policing strategies. Chief Trebes’ steadfast commitment to the men and women of the department and to the people of Bullhead City has made a lasting impact on our community. His legacy is one of service and a tireless pursuit of making Bullhead City a safe place to live, work and visit.”

 

Trebes reflected on his career with pride in the department’s accomplishments and a deep appreciation for the community he has served. “As I look back on my time here, it brings a lot of joy to my heart, knowing I helped our citizens… to be able to live out the American dream,” he wrote.

 

City Manager Cotter will lead a nationwide recruitment effort to select the next Chief of Police.
