Complaints

Complaint-Based Code Enforcement

The City of Bullhead City enforces code compliance through a complaint-based process. This includes regulations related to nuisances, property maintenance, zoning, and other City codes. Community involvement is essential—residents, neighborhood associations, block watch groups, and other City departments are encouraged to participate.

How Complaints Are Handled

We accept most complaints anonymously. However, for the following situations, the City requires the complainant’s name and contact phone number to support a complete and efficient investigation:

  • Complaints about illegal commercial businesses

  • Repeated complaints (two or more) for the same issue at the same location found to be invalid within a 12-month period

  • Complaints that do not include a street address

Providing contact information helps our inspectors follow up and ensure a thorough review.

Inspection Response Times

The City responds to complaints based on the severity of the issue:

Within Two Business Days

For complaints that do not pose an immediate health or safety hazard, an inspector will respond within two business days of receiving the complaint.

Immediate Response

For complaints that involve potential health or safety hazards, including:

  • Open or vacant buildings

  • Fire or health risks

  • Unsecured pool

…the City will conduct an immediate inspection.

Community involvement plays a key role in keeping Bullhead City beautiful and safe.
