Hydrant Program

The City of Bullhead City Council has approved multiple investments to strengthen the community’s water and wastewater utilities, including a $2.4 million fire hydrant replacement program.

  • Fire Hydrant Upgrades: 320 hydrants will be purchased and installed over the next five years, including 180 smart iHydrants that provide real-time pressure and temperature data. This will give the Bullhead City Fire Department vital information during emergencies.
  • System Reliability: 80 out-of-service hydrants will be replaced. Since 2022, more than 1,600 of the City’s 2,000 public hydrants have been tested.

  • Valve Truck Purchase: A $182,039 specialized truck will improve valve maintenance, reducing the impact of water main breaks on residents.

  • Wastewater System Upgrades: Council approved the purchase of a crane truck, a Kaiser Premier Aquastar Vactor truck, and a $120,000 three-year license for Utility Cloud software to improve maintenance and reporting.

  • Improve emergency response times.
  • Reduce water service outages.

  • Increase efficiency in maintaining water and sewer infrastructure

Water Master Plan

The City of Bullhead City has adopted a $1.6 million Water Master Plan to guide improvements to the community’s water system over the next 20–30 years.

Developed by West Coast Civil, Inc., the Water Master Plan provides a comprehensive roadmap that includes:

  • A full assessment of the City’s water system assets.

  • A water demand forecast to prepare for future growth.

  • An analysis of system deficiencies and areas needing improvement.

  • A long-term capital improvement plan for repairs and upgrades.

The plan focuses on ensuring a reliable, sustainable water supply for residents by:

  • Upgrading infrastructure to support community growth.

  • Addressing existing deficiencies in the system.

  • Planning strategically for long-term maintenance and investment.

The Water Master Plan builds on the City’s acquisition of the water system from EPCOR in 2021 and sets the foundation for a stronger, more resilient future.
