Your Water & Sewer Rates - Explained

Utility Rate Increase

Public Hearing

The City of Bullhead City will hold a public hearing on September 2, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the Bullhead City Council Chambers to review proposed utility rate changes.

Key Information

  • Sewer base rates will increase by 8% beginning with the January 2025 billing cycle.
  • The City Council approved this increase after reviewing revenues and expenditures for the wastewater system.
  • A letter has been mailed to all customers explaining the change.

You can also review:

In 2018, the City Council approved a 5-year graduated rate increase for wastewater customers. Until 2019, residential wastewater rates had not changed in 15 years. In 2003, the City even lowered the rate from $33.50 to $31.00.

Effective with the August billing cycle:

  • Residential base rate: $35.55 → $36.26 (2% increase)

  • Commercial base rate: $47.02 → $47.96

This adjustment will help the City:

  • Maintain and improve the wastewater system

  • Install new odor control equipment

  • Cover rising electrical and fuel costs

  • Support employee compensation and benefits

  • Preserve reserve funds for future needs

The Council approved this rate structure after a thorough review of the budget, staffing, and capital improvement projects. These changes ensure the City can continue providing a safe, efficient, and reliable wastewater system.
