The City Attorney is responsible for the legal department, including the Prosecutor's Office. The City Attorney, appointed by the City Council, leads the department, serves as legal advisor to the council, staff, boards, and commissions, and represents the city in legal proceedings.  Primary duties include the preparation of contracts, ordinances, resolutions and other documents necessary for the proper carrying-out of city functions.
